Job Summary:
Position reports directly to the Medical Director and/or supervising Physician. The Family Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing personable, compassionate, general medical care and treatment to MMC patients in the clinic under the direction of a physician. Responsibility includes treatment and care to School Base Health Care and MMC patients.
Essential Duties
Provide general medical care and treatment to patients in medical facility under the direction of physician. Perform physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of physician. Effectively identify, evaluate, and address disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in the practice while administering quality patient care. Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient clinical problems and health care needs. Record physical findings, and formulate plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition. Discuss individual patients with physician and other health professionals to prepare a comprehensive care plan. Submit health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by physician. Prescribe or recommend drug or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures. May refer patient to physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment. Educate patient and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications. Analyze new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, and professional literature, or "hands-on training" and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice. Perform other related duties in a dependable, cooperative, “team spirit” manner as tasks are assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Possess administrative and clinical skills. Sensitive to the needs of patients. Ability to communicate with patients and staff in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to take direction and give direction as needed. Above average written and verbal communication skills.
Education:
Completion of formal Family Nurse Practitioner Training, active State of Georgia Family Nurse Practitioner License, and an active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration.
